EP. 55: TAKE BACK THE MAGIC

Episode Summary

Happy Halloween, everyone! In Ep. 55, we unlock the mysteries of the spirit world with bestselling author, Perdita Finn, a spiritual teacher, and co-founder of the Way of the Rose, based on the book she co-authored with her husband Clarke Strand and discussed on Ep. 49. Perdita is back for another riveting conversation to discuss her latest book, Take Back The Magic: Conversations with The Unseen World, which delves into the often unseen spiritual connections with ancestors. Finn shares personal narratives about her evolving relationship with her deceased father, the significance of storytelling, and the profound impact of collaborating with the dead. The episode is a rich tapestry of personal anecdotes, spiritual wisdom, and practical advice for writers and readers alike, raising the most important question any writer can ask themselves: why are you writing your book? What value are you bringing to readers? In this case, Perdita is inviting us to reclaim our connection with those who are no longer with us, but stand by, waiting for us to invite them into our heart’s desires—and trust the miracles and magic that follow. I loved this interview and feel I’ve made a friend with Perdita Finn. Maybe you will too! I hope you enjoy this and the book, which I devoured in one sitting on a cross-country flight. She captivated me and nailed her first page, of course, and then some.

Episode Notes

The Page One Podcast, produced and hosted by author Holly Lynn Payne, celebrates the craft that goes into writing the first sentence, first paragraph and first page of your favorite books. The first page is often the most rewritten page of any book because it has to work so hard to do so much—hook the reader. We interview master storytellers on the struggles and stories behind the first page of their books.

About the guest author:

In addition to being the author of The Way of The Rose,  which she spoke about with her co-author and husband Clark Strand on Ep. 49 of the Page One Podcast, Perdita Finn is the author of several children’s books and middle grade novels, including the Time Flyers series for Scholastic Books, My Little Pony Books, among many others and has worked as ghostwriter, book doctor, copy editor and writing teacher.

Perdita Finna also has done extensive study with Zen masters, priests, and healers, and apprenticed with the psychic Susan Saxman, with whom she wrote The Reluctant Psychic. She currently leads popular workshops on Collaborating with the Other Side, in which participants are empowered to activate the magic in their own lives with the help of their ancestors. She lives with her husband in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
